What exactly is “Qi”
Pronounced "chee," Qi is an ancient Chinese word that describes the vital life force believed to animate all living things. For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qigong, and other Eastern healing arts have viewed Qi as the subtle energy that flows through the body, supporting balance, movement, vitality, and overall well-being.
While modern science does not define Qi as a measurable physical substance, many people relate to the idea through everyday experiences—the energizing feeling after a walk in nature, the calm that follows a deep breath, or the sense of being either "drained" or "full of life."
Qigong (literally meaning "the cultivation of Qi") is a gentle practice of mindful movement, breath, and awareness designed to encourage a healthy and balanced flow of this life force. Reiki, a Japanese healing art, shares this same understanding through the word Ki, which comes from the same ancient Chinese concept.
At Heart of Qi, the word Qi represents more than a philosophy. It is an invitation to reconnect with your breath, your body, and the quiet intelligence that already exists within you. Whether you experience it as energy, vitality, presence, or simply a deep sense of peace, the intention is the same—to cultivate greater balance, resilience, and connection in everyday life.
